When I was younger,
I could remember anything,
whether it had happened
or not;
but my faculties are decaying
now and soon I shall be so
I cannot remember any
but things
that never happened.
It is sad to go to pieces
like this
but we all have to do it.
Very poignant. I am currently reading ‘Why we sleep’ by Matthew Walker – am on the section that covers the link between poor sleep and forgetfulness/failure to remember. I wish their experiments could explain why my father always slept like a dead thing but nevertheless died of Alzheimers.

Thank you. There are many things I also wish could be explained but then I have to ask myself if I really want to know. What transpired with my daughters’ passing is difficult enough as it is without delving deeper into reasons. I have enough trouble trying to get back on track with my writing.
